<p>
	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I'm trying to evaluate an organic shape to it's nominal and having trouble with the actual calculation. I've been able to get the heatmap overlay via Surface Comparisons On CAD but haven't found a way to generate the actual calculation I'm looking for. Specifically I want to find how much of the part (%) is within a user defined tolerance.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<p>
	Hi everyone
</p>

<p>
	I would like to generate a Surface Comparison of  an area on a CAD part against different Actual parts, without having the operator influence every time (i.e., having to manually select it in red before generating the Surface Comparison).
</p>

<p>
	Therefore, I am looking for a solution that allows me to mark (or segment) an area on a CAD part, kind of making it a new object (or area) that would be ´pre defined´ every time I upload an Actual Part.
</p>

<p>
	Would anyone have tried it or know about any possibility to make it possible?
</p>

<p>
	Best regards
</p>

<p>
	Bruna

	<p>
		Hello everyone,
	</p>

	<p>
		I have a question regarding the mirroring of nominal, actual, and inspection elements.
	</p>

	<p>
		I am working with a symmetrical component. My goal is to define elements (such as surface points, edge curves, etc.) on one side and then duplicate them to the other side using a mirror function.
	</p>

	<p>
		<strong>Current issues:</strong>
	</p>

	<ol>
		<li>
			<p>
				The coordinate system origin is not suitable for this case. Therefore, I created an additional plane, which I intend to use as the reference plane for mirroring.
			</p>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				After performing the mirror operation (Element → Mirror), I encounter the following problems:
			</p>

			<ul>
				<li>
					The edge curves parameter can no longer be edited (they appear greyed out).
				</li>
				<li>
					<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="14666" data-ratio="82.77" width="441" alt="image.png.783751c032342d8eb1baa99b815e78ac.png" data-src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/uploads/monthly_2026_05/image.png.783751c032342d8eb1baa99b815e78ac.png" src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">
				</li>
				<li>
					For nominal elements, offset points are converted into simple surface points (see attached image).

				</li>
				<li>
					For actual elements, similar behavior occurs—the mirrored elements (e.g., edge curves) are no longer editable.
				</li>
			</ul>
		</li>
		<li>
			<p>
				The only approach that works is using the officially provided script "Mirror Evaluation". However, this script only allows mirroring along predefined planes (X, Y, or Z) and not along a user-defined plane. i also tried to change the script code ( replacing the plane) but it did not work.
			</p>
		</li>
	</ol>

	<p>
		Has anyone experienced similar issues or found a solution for mirroring elements along a custom-defined plane while preserving their properties and editability?
	</p>

	<p>
		Thank you in advance for your support!

<p>
	Hallo zusammen,
</p>

<p>
	will man einen Schnittpunkt einer Linie mit dem CAD erzeugen, so muss man die entsprechende Schnittpunkt-Nr. angeben.<br>
	Hier im Beispiel ist das der Punkt Nr. 7.
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/uploads/monthly_2026_05/SOLL-Schnittpunkt.jpg.8cc71c69eb7a85302256c2e265c37bee.jpg" data-fileid="14462" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="14462" data-ratio="89.18" width="841" alt="SOLL-Schnittpunkt.thumb.jpg.eedbef8b9c9e58c31b3b23cc6b5d5dab.jpg" data-src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/uploads/monthly_2026_05/SOLL-Schnittpunkt.thumb.jpg.eedbef8b9c9e58c31b3b23cc6b5d5dab.jpg" src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></a>
</p>

<p>
	Macht man nun referenzierte Konstruktion will die SW den entsprechenden IST-Schnittpunkt auch an Nr. 7 erzeugen. DAS CAD hat allerdings Innenflächen, die im IST nicht gemessen sind. Somit ist der richtige IST-Schnittpunkt nicht die Nr. 7 sondern wie in meinem Beispiel die Nr. 5
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/uploads/monthly_2026_05/IST-Schnittpunkt.jpg.453991f4744471645509dc21fc501271.jpg" data-fileid="14464" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="14464" data-ratio="97.40" width="770" alt="IST-Schnittpunkt.thumb.jpg.eab853f2c71812386318ef3cd125dbb4.jpg" data-src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/uploads/monthly_2026_05/IST-Schnittpunkt.thumb.jpg.eab853f2c71812386318ef3cd125dbb4.jpg" src="https://qualityforum.zeiss.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></a>
</p>

<p>
	Meiner Meinung nach könnte das Problem behoben werden, wenn die Software die Schnittpunkte vom Startpunkt der Linie aus zählen würde.<br>
	Im Beispiel wäre das dann jeweils der Punkt Nr. 1.
</p>

<p>
	Hab ich etwas übersehen, dass das bereits geht oder könnte man das implementieren?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Danke und viele Grüße<br>

	It is difficult to determine if enough data has been captured while scanning. It would be helpful if a preview mesh was created on the fly, rather than showing only the pointcloud.

	mir ist bei der Messung eines Teils ein Problem aufgefallen. An einem Bolzen messe ich zwei Kreise die 1,4mm voneinander entfernt sind. Beim Auswerten der Konzentrizität ist mir aufgefallen, dass die Werte deutlich voneinander abweichen. Bei beiden Messungen habe ich jeweils den anderen Kreis als Bezug verwendet. Ich frage mich nun ob das sein kann und wenn ja warum das so ist.

	Hi everyone,

<p>
	Im trying to compare a surface profile (GDnT) but I have a few problems. I have to do the comparaison on the whole surface of the part (not only on one element like a plan or something else), so after the alignement, I created my reference surface on the CAD but I can't assign any measuring principle : I can't even select the mesh and 'fitting element' does not work correctly.
</p>

<p>
	You can see my CAD in the first pic, then my 3d scan and my nominal surface.

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	Hello GOM team,
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	I am currently working on a correlation study between a Scancobot with Atos Q and a CMM using Calypso. We are measuring a radius section of 194 mm on a honeycomb part.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	We have observed differences in the measurements obtained from both pieces of equipment. Specifically, we are measuring three sections at different heights, over an approximate length of 15 mm, with 7 points per section.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	On the Scancobot, we use a touch point edge measurement with an edge height of 4 mm. On the CMM, we measure the same points but use a 2.5 mm radius probe.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	We have noticed that the point-to-point variation is greater on the Scancobot than on the CMM. The dispersion between points on the CMM is about 0.01–0.03 mm, whereas on the Scancobot it is 0.04–0.07 mm.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#5b5b5b;font-size:16px;text-align:left;">
	Do you have any recommendations for measuring this type of part?
</p>

	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I'm currently comparing a CAD file and a mesh, and when I try to create datums points, I click on different planes on my CAD, but they all show up as "not computed" Do you know why? How can I fix this?
</p>

<p>
	In all the videos I've watched, no one seems to have this problem

<p>
	I would like to figure out, if its possible to create 12 uniformly distributed points on a surface along a circle of Ø75,5mm.
</p>

<p>
	I'd be very happy if there is anyone, who can help my finding a solution.

<p>
	Hello everyone! Andrea from Italy here, currently going a bit crazy trying to measure the area of a mesh
</p>

<p>
	I’ll give you some context:<br>
	I’m working on a scientific study on oral wound healing. We use an intraoral scanner to compare two different surgical techniques, evaluating how quickly the wound closes over time.
</p>

<p>
	The workflow is: scan patients at different postoperative time points, identify the wound area on each scan, measure the area and track how it changes over time
</p>

<p>
	The scanner exports STL, PLY and OBJ files. I usually work with PLY because the color information helps me better identify the margins. However, I’ve tried all three formats and the issue persists, so I don’t think the file type is the problem.
</p>

<p>
	What i'm doing:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Import the mesh into Zeiss Inspect
	</li>
	<li>
		Draw a closed curve around the wound area on the mesh
	</li>
	<li>
		Try to calculate the area inside that curve
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	The Problem: I cannot find any tool that lets me measure the surface area enclosed by the curve. The curve is definitely closed, the mesh should be closed as well (no visible holes), I’ve looked through the available measurement tools but can’t find a way to compute the area within the boundary. As a comparison, I tried the same workflow in MeshLab, and it works there without issues. I'll add a screenshot of what i've to measure, i can provide you more screenshots etc etc....
</p>

<p>
	I’d really prefer to stay in Zeiss Inspect since I’m already using it for additional 3D and vertical analyses, and it would be ideal to keep everything in one software.
</p>

<p>
	Is there a way in Zeiss Inspect to calculate the area enclosed by a curve drawn on a mesh?<br>
	Am I missing a specific function or workflow?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction, i'm sure i'm missing some stupid passages....
</p>
