I’m still having trouble with bolt circles in the new GD&T. For items 6 & 26, the new engine will let me select -A- and -B-, but I can only select -C- after I’ve basically made a simple circle using the bolt holes (it’s not going to clock to a best fit). When I select common datum, all of the features disappear except for -A- & -B-. Is there any way to do this staying completely in the new engine, or am I stuck trying to adapt part of the old way?

	Hello, for reference i have never created a new probe or a new qualification program or anything. I have done research but I am having a hard time finding info on a couple different things.

Currently we use a 30mm reference sphere at a 45 degree angle for every probe we have, even our small probes. this has caused some major inaccuracy in some of our smaller probes and I am getting it set up to where I would like to have the 30mm sphere standing straight up, and a 8mm ball at the 45 degree angle (unless there is a better setup that you all recommend).

I believe I know how to edit our current reference sphere to stand straight up, and i believe i can figure out how to add another reference sphere at a 45 degree angle. what i want to know is do i need to put in somewhere that they are both there at the same time, to where when it does the qualification of some probes it doesn't crash into the other sphere? I'm going to be creating a new qualification program that would hopefully qualify all the probes at the same time, though if necessary i will have 2 separate qualification programs for out smaller and bigger probes.

Is there anything else to consider when modifying the qualification spheres? I have never had any official training on CMMs and though I have found work instructions that help I havent yet seen something about this. Thanks!

	Hello,

	Up until Calypso 7.6, which was calypso 2023, you could get the latest license, and it will still work with previous versions. so if i updated from 2019 to 2021, i could use 2021 and 2019.

	When i tried updating the license to 2024, i got a message saying it would no longer be backward compatible. so i wouldn't be able to use my CMM with 2019 and 2021.

	So i never did.

	is that still the case?

	I have a CMM with 2019 still and another with 2021. I don't want to upgrade those licenses and then not have access to those CMMs.

	I gotta go through some red tape to get them upgraded which is why that cant happen at this moment. but upgrading the 2019 to 2021 shouldn't be an issue.

	but that is my question. i want to upgrade the license for 2019(7.0) to 2021(7.2) but it only is giving the option to update to 8.0 and i don't know if its backward compatible.

	Thank You,

	Dear colleagues,

	As much of CALYPSO still dates back to the 1990s, when IT was simply a tool and usually worked, I’m hoping for the standard functionality of that era.
Virtually every piece of software (even CATIA...) could be controlled or enhanced via environment variables. One example is the batch files, which still work well as user exits.

Now I would like to trigger a user input via one of these batch files, *calculation_end.bat*. I would then like to use this input – for example, a name – as a log header variable in a PiWeb log. We do not have PCM, which is probably the biggest limitation for such functionality.

	So is there a way to get an environment variable into PiWeb somehow?
e.g. Zaphod_Beeblebrox=42 as environment variable

Best Regards
Karsten

	Fault description

	The equipment began exhibiting a spontaneous fault during measurement operations, without any prior hardware or software intervention.

	The head performs all indexing movements normally, indicating that the RDS positioning system appears to be functioning correctly.

	However, when a measurement begins, the VAST XXT sensor fails to trigger (detect contact with the workpiece) at any A=180° position.
The machine continues to advance past the expected contact point as if the sensor remained inactive preventing point acquisition.

	Observed conditions

	* The issue occurs with any stylus configuration at A=180°.
* The sensor does not trigger during measurement.
* Head indexing proceeds normally.
* No collisions were identified immediately prior to the fault's onset.
* The fault occurred spontaneously.

	I would like to know if anyone has encountered similar behavior and what additional procedures are recommended to isolate the cause before replacing the sensor or opening a service ticket.

 Hello,

 I have a small problem with the position calculation of holes and hope you can help me.

 According to the standard, the position can be calculated using the following formula:

 Position = 2 × √(a² + b²)

 For some results, this works correctly:

	I have been asked to make a program for the attached part. It is very small (OD is .486 inch)

	The only way I could think to fixture it is by mounting it with a screw onto a milled down scrap part. (see photo)

	But now I am struggling with how to align it for the following reasons:

	No flat spot on part to use as a Z zero

	I have never tried using a torus as the X and Y zero. Is this even allowed, and if so, are there any special considerations when doing this?

	I don't know what kind of strategy to use on a torus. Just a bunch of random points?

	I considered using the shoulder of the fixture as the Z zero and the cylinder on the fixture below the part as the and Y Zero. I believe I would then have to make a secondary alignment using features of the actual part in order to get the angle of the indent features, but that takes me back to the original problem.

	I was going to clock it to the dimple, but it is very small and I don't know how to probe it. Is there a better way to clock it? If I did want to clock the dimple, how would I do that when the probe hardly fits inside? Is there a way to have the probe find the center of the dimple like it does when you are setting the probe rack location?

This error halts generation of measurement results until the "OK" button is pressed.

	Hello,

	We encountered an odd issue on one of our workstations that operates Calypso that is connected to a CMM. One morning out of nowhere some of the text/font in our windows does not look like it should or does not look like all of the other workstations that we run Calypso on (3 online, 3 offline.) The issue primarily impacts the initial start window, the automatic stylus window, and a handful of other windows. I have tried changing the default font settings within the Calypso 'system settings: Environment' but it has no impact on correcting the issue regardless of whether we have "Calypso Standard" or "From System Settings" selected. I have also played around with the screen resolution, and a handful of other windows settings, but have run out of ideas as to how to fix the problem. I have even tried to install a different version of Calypso and the issue transfers over. If anyone has encountered the issue or may have any ideas on a system setting to change please let me know.

	The first two images below are what "normal" or what it "should" look like is. The second two images are the same windows from the problem machine. As you can see it is a bit of an issue in the automatic stylus changer window as the stylus names are covered up by the changer positions so you can't really tell what stylus system is in what position unless the operator is highly familiar with the systems and positions...

	I have a program that has worked just fine in the past. However, today, I bring it up and when I go to start it, the base alignment is locked and greyed out to 'current alignment'. As I mentioned, I have used this program several times before with no issue. Other programs brought up today also seem to work as well. is there something that I can look at and change?

	Hello everyone,

	There have been changes to the technical drawing and a D reference has been added.

	Along with this, the runout value has also changed.
I need to check the runout based on 2 plane points and one cylinder point.

	In Calyso, I can select 2 references for runout: 1 plane and 1 cylinder.
I haven't seen 2 different plane points for runout before.

	I'm using Calyso 2021.

	Could this be related to the new GD&T?
