How do you manage evaluation methods? #Context Matters #LSQ/OTF/MCE/MIE

Hole size at +/-.005 inch (our standard block tolerance for .XXX decimal) i just leave my settings at Default least square.
Anything tighter and i switch to Max Inscribed as it will probably be a mating surface for a dowell or rotating shaft.
I do this at the end of every program as a part of my "Feature Settings Editor & Paintbrush routine".

You're from Schaumberg, Illinois eh Wojciech? We buy our Sodick Wire EDM machines from Schaumberg. Very high precision on straight and square edges, but roundness is inherently a struggle for any wire EDM, which is exactly where many evaluation method discussions start.

Don't deal much with EDM, we are a job shop with Mill/Turn machines. If we struggle to achieve parts in tolerance in every evaluation setting we usually contact the customer to ask for direction. Drawings from Germany sometimes have designations for evaluation method, but other than that its usually up to us.

It's about the same here. Diameters that are not critical, I leave at LSQ. Diameters that I know are critical or tight toleranced, I will use LSQ and MIC(or MCC on OD's). That way, if it fails at MIC, they can't ask why it passed on the CMM. I include LSQ so they can say it's not that bad if they want to, because usually it's not. Most of the time if it fails at MIC but passes at LSQ then it's a borderline issue. But, sometimes having LSQ and MIC proves a major roundness issue. For position, I always use LSQ. For datums, I always use outer tangent element, except for rare occasions.
