[Sh...]
Good morning all, Does anyone know what this setting is used for and if we need it turned on or not? I believe it is defaulted to on.
[To...]
It is on here, but has to be turned on in the Features Settings Editor. Either "all features" or "selected features"
[Je...]
Shawn, It is for automatically exporting measuring points to a defined location in a different format than Zeiss's .zmp format. One reason a user may choose this is to capture data on a particular CMM but evaluate and report from a different computer and/or different software than Calypso. This can possibly speed up cycle time, because you're not waiting for Calypso to calculate and report. Another reason a user may choose this option is to preserve the "digital twin" of the part, which is the scanned data. This may be a more secure and agile strategy for storing the data than in the "idmeaspoints" folder that Calypso defaults to.
[St...]
Hi Jeff, Reviving the discussion because we are having mysterious delays at end of CNC run, endless 'table file will be generated' messages, with some measurement plans. In the help files the function of 'Export Points' you mention seems to be described under 'Basics of the automatic subsequent evaluation'. If fully implemented it sounds like it would save time, but I suspect many users are not pursuing this to the end. So it seems having 'Export points' checked produces activity that serves no immediate purpose, right? We do make extensive use of 'Save measured points' for re-evaluations and I understand its function, but can I safely disable 'Export points'? Is there any other reason why our report takes so long to appear at the end of the CNC run? Thank you,
[Je...] Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Hi Please sign in to view this username. ! So, it's a bit lucky that I stumbled onto your question while randomly reading forum posts. Use the Please sign in to view this username. tag to make sure I see the question, PM me, or hit me up on LinkedIn anytime https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeff-frodermann/ Related to your question, "Results to File" is an Infinity Gauntlet of manufacturing power for those who learn how to wield it. I have "Save Measured Points" turned on globally on all of our machines. These points store in Zeiss's proprietary .zmp format, but there are other ways in Calypso to store in several formats including .dxf, txt, and others. For those other formats, you can choose to store the info as: -x,y,z or polar coordinates, -i,j,k vector info -nominal to actual comparison -just nominals -just actuals -saved without stylus correction (stylus sphere centered) -saved with correction applied (default) -saved per a particular alignment (or cmm's coordinate system) -other refinements The .zmp format is terrific, but it can only be used to populate nominal features in an actual measurement plan, and if the name of the feature is changed after the points were stored, they will not recall correctly. Regarding your present issue, "Save Measured Points" is not likely to be the cause of the issue, but the table export options could be relevant. Yes, you can turn "results to file off," but I'd recommend contacting Zeiss to have an application specialist diagnose the root cause. I have encountered a similar problem. In my case, the issue was caused because the source directory that we were saving to had been unintentionally changed to "read-only," therefore the results did not have permission to write there. Easy fix. I hope that helps. I'm eager to see how this plays out for you.
[St...] Posted yesterday at 06:55 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:55 PM Thank you Jeff, This issue will take some serious investigation. I'll share the solution if it comes before too long. Regards
[An...]
No problem, Please sign in to view this username. . Other possible causes are running PiWeb via Windows administrator privileges (which should not be activated), as well as saving to a network drive (which can work but is also often known to be glitchy).
