Would this cause any type of a issue? Regarding Stylus System.

The way I have my stylus mapped for this probe is

1 = x-
2 = x+
3 = Y-
4 = Y+
5 = Z-

Just noticed that the image 6206 doesn't correspond to how i have it setup.

Pick a way of naming --Then commit to it forever.

Your method of naming and numbering should be consistent across all probe systems - even if those systems change. When you're thinking of it, think of 5 years from now when you might have dozens of systems each on multiple CMMs. If you aren't careful and considerate with your naming you will hate yourself for it - or the next person will.

For example:

We follow the default 1-5 numbering on star systems. 1-Bottom, 2-Back, 3-Right, 4-Front, 5-Left.

So even if we create a System with only a Left and Right probe, the Right is still #3, and the Left is still #5 - That way if we decide later on to add say a Bottom probe, it can still be #1 like every other bottom probe.

We also have a standard, similar system for more complicated systems but that is the jist of it.

I print and attach this to every non-articulating CMM we have and instruct everybody that if they name it any other way, the display on the joystick box will be wrong and cause future users crash problems. Then I tell them if they name one wrong, RIP is taking them to the train station! 164_2f58a81260005361365a193cf1c78481.jpg

Owen, I picture you as being the type of boss I enjoy working for: tough but fair/consistent.

See, I could sit at your system and understand the styli, unlike others where they name a star probe:
"Star Probe with extra tip" 🤣 .
