[Ja...]
Can anyone tell me how to program a theoretical tooling ball to measure the depth of a cone? Thanks in advance! JasonCapture3.JPG
[Er...]
Can you not get a 2mm ball to seat it on the cone and take a point, using point cloud to find the outer tangential point? You can then use caliper distance and measure the max point to the plane for your distance. Based on the tolerance you have, I would want a physical measurement. There are too many other variances going on that could make a theoretical measurement different from an actual measurement. Unless they say that this is to be a theoretical calculation. [Er...]
When I have more of an open tolerance I have measured opposite lines on a cone, created a tangent and then input the ball sized in the diameter. I then used a caliper distance selecting maximum on the tangent, and measure to the plane to get the height. This works pretty well also. I usually will check in a few places around the cone.
