[Ju...]
Hello, Would someone please verify that the attached image of some GD&T is incorrect. I have never seen an LMC attached to a "square tolerance zone", I have always seen this with a diameter symbol in between the "position" symbol and the stated tolerance. Engineer is telling me that LMC will work in a "square zone tolerance", but I believe this to be incorrect. Thank you for taking a look, and for any info! [Ma...]
LMC and MMC are used from element - so if they want square zone and calypso alows that, then it's ok. Just wondering what base A D locks - square zone allows more movement - perhaps they intended this because of assembly

[Ma...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Not sure - I am using only ISO - not studied ASME yet, but it would not differ much.
[Da...]
Material modifiers are not always about assembly. I don't think that in this case the LMC is used for assembly reasons, because the datum A|D lets the tolerance zone rotate, which wouldn't be very useful for assembly when a square tolerance zone is used. I think, the LMC is supposed to make sure that the material width between the holes never gets too thin. I don't know what the rest of the drawing looks like, but we're talking about 1002 tiny holes. By using LMC, their distance will be controlled in a way that they can't get too close to each other.
