Filter/Outlier with different strategies.

I have been told not to mix strategies because filter/outlier won't work then... but I haven't seen any warnings from Zeiss, and in trying it it definitely still does something.

Examples:

Plane with both circle paths and polyline strategies.

OR

A Cylinder with both circle paths and polylines

how does the filtering handle this? Also do you filter based on what the strategy is, or what the feature is? Meaning if I scan a circle path on a plane, do I filter it with wavelength based on the feature size? or UPR based on the circle path size?

Thanks!

For a cylinder with both circle paths and polylines, I would use
Gauss filtering for the circle paths and for polylines, I'd use spline.

"Meaning if I scan a circle path on a plane, do I filter it with wavelength
based on the feature size? or UPR based on the circle path size"?

Wouldn't the UPR setting only apply to circular features?

That's exactly what I asked.

Our parts are almost always round, so scanning circle paths on planes usually makes more sense. But, the person I learned from will then use UPR, and he says you can't mix strategies - polylines and circle paths. Although it seems that for really tight tolerance cylinders, using lines and circles would help in some cases.

UPR is used on cylinders - not used on planes regardless of strategy.
Based on path I would not recommend UPR for polylines on cylinders ( only for helix and circles ) - but I am not dealing with tight tolerances.

Using UPR for circular scan on a face is certainly valid. On many roundness measuring devices it is the only option.
If you choose to mix strategies, use an appropriate wavelength filter instead.

I'm really bad about not setting filters specifically for features. I only change the default when I have "fishy" results.

The Zeiss Cookbook of 100+ pages should be a part of the help files, or at least included in the training.
