[Gr...]
Is there an official recommendation on ups battery backups to the actual cmm machine? I personally have an Accura II, and the manual says that the TCC style has a max VA of 1600. I have heard of places that use a ups rated for 1500 VA, but wouldn't that die? Any advice, specific or general would be appreciated.
[Ra...]
Recently I ordered 2x APC BACK-UPS 2200VA for both our CMM's, because they were available. We have Accura II (requested 1600VA- same as you), Prismo Navigator (requested 2500VA). In my case for Accura II 2200VA is more than enough, but for Prismo Navigator 2200VA is slightly less than required. But you should understand that these numbers are "MAX" and in real life these units are not reachable. With these UPS we can safely stop measuring or even finish it (When we get problems with electricity). I understand that my answer is late, but maybe it will help others. 🙂
[Er...]
This is just what I have done. The brochure lists 2000VA maximum draw for my Eclipse. A suspiciously "round" number. If this number were correct I'd be blowing the breaker all the time. When I got here there were "other" items plugged into the same circuit, so I know the 2000VA is suspicious. The power monitor never goes over 400 watts, with the PC and monitor plugged into the same UPS. I just have a 1500VA PFC rated UPS. The PFC rating is for cleaner power for sensitive electronics. Pure Sine Wave is similar. My 1500VA has enough watt rating to handle power "blinks." If power goes out I immediately do a controlled shut down after saving my points.
