Tooling Ball Alignment

Hello, earlier this year, measured a parabola antenna contour surface with hundreds of space points. Then created a 3d best fit alignment using these points and measured six tooling balls on the outer surface related to this alignment.
This same dish has returned from testing and I need to create this same alignment, but only using the six tooling ball values. Just checking to see what method for alignment would be best.

CMM: LK Metre 4
Calypso 2017 Operating System

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided!

I used 3D Best fit for tooling ball alignment of fixtures for part inspection, which worked well for theparts that I was inspecting.
However, RPS may give better base alignment repeatability(?)

What kind of testing did it go through?
Next time, you may want to check back to the tooling ball alignment *before* sending out to test, to compare the *after* results to.

Keith,

Thanks for the quick response. I will try both methods to see which is more effective.
One question, it seems a preliminary alignment is needed for the base alignment first and then creating the 3D Best Fit alignment with the input of the tooling balls values follows. The program seems to accept these steps, but is this the only way to incorporate the 3D Best Fit into a program?

Thanks again.

Once you have defined the tooling ball coordinate values, you can create a Base Alignment from them:
