can't pickup extracted points on part

I extracted several points off the CAD model. I simply want to measure between them. I have them extracted as features, i have the characteristics set to measure between points. I manually set the alignment, and execute the plan. after it confirms location, their is a stylus change. but that stylus never gets anywhere near the point location on the block. I have to stop the machine before it crashes.

I have re-set the location to the ref sphere, and re-qualified the stylus, eventhough it worked fine on a previous run.
There are no obstacles between the target points.

If you open the feature editor for the part, do the coordinates for the probing point in the strategy look correct? They should be either (1) the same as the nominals in the feature editor with respect to the base alignment or (2) all 0 with respect to the feature.

Does your stylus system only have one stylus on it?
Thinking something like this might happen if you had the wrong stylus selected when creating your feature.
