Rotary Table Slowing Down

So I'm getting reports from my operators that the rotary table is randomly slowing down. Didn't start until Calypso 7.2. I haven't been able to replicate it myself.

What is triggering the RT to slow down in 7.2?

The parts are fairly light.

Documentation only has this note that sounds awfully Germanglish.

I found it. It has to do with moment of inertia setting on RT-AB's. Good thinking Richard.

Yeah... We found that out the hard way. That was a very expensive mistake that we made.

We are already talking about rotary tables today so I'm sticking to that theme. Does anyone else with an RTAB notice Calypso reducing the rotational speed? If so, does anyone have a good workaround?

It didn't use to do this and only happens when you upgrade to newest versions of Calypso and firmware. It is my understanding that this is done to help protect the RT-AB from over accelerating. All that is great, except for more than doubling the length of some programs.

I've had a ticket in with Zeiss for a while. I'm preparing myself for the "this is a feature and not a bug" response.

UPDATE: Turns out this was a bug. Germany fixed it and rolled the changes into the most recent service pack that was just released(7.2.08).

If you have an Air Bearing Rotary Table, then it is highly recommended that you get the service pack.
