How to update alignments when moving their features

Hello,

I have a plane on my part. It is used in a secondary alignment that is parent of 100's of other features.

We have updated our machining process to now leave .003in on that face for cleanup in the next operation. So I opened my feature and adjusted the nominal of that plane by .003. But when I look at other features that are using the alignment that it helps to define, their nominal do not change by .003.

This plane is also datum for a lot of positions and profiles so the nominal position tolerances should also be .003 different from what they currently are but it also doesn't seem to update those either.

What do?

By changing your nominal, you haven't changed your relationship to other features. It is still "zero" . Make a new alignment shifted .003" and change the features to the new alignment. I think you need to check the "keep position" box and it will change the nominals. You need to experiment on one and once you get it sorted, use the paint tool for all the others. The Datum reference and profiles may require another solution. Are you using a model ?

Yes using a model. I think I have changed the relationship to other features. Even though it is still "zero" I am moving that zero, or at least trying to.

I did find an imperfect solution.

I took those features, set them all to base alignment first. Then I changed that plane nominal by .003. And when I set it back to my original alignment, it corrected the numbers to what I expect. I wish calypso could recognize this without swapping back and forth!

The positions were another issue. After I changed the plane nominal, I opened the position characteristic. It just needed to be set to "only X" which greyed out the one that should have changed. Then I put it back to diametral XY and it updated.

So Calypso did recognize the .003 change, but it needed some help. I even ran through the part and I was hoping that actually measuring would help it update, but it did not.
