Hi
I want to limit the speed when contura G2 is going to change probes.
We had some issues with this and i want to do it for safe.

Want to limit the speed global for all programs.
Is it poseable ?

I don't know if it's possible to set it globally, but for a measurement plan, go to Measurement Plan Editor Features under the Measurement Plan tab. From here, you can override the default speed of the machine.

I guess an old school way to do it for every measurement plan would be to turn the speed knob down on the control box.

The above suggestion only controls the speed of each feature while it is inside the clearance cube. Once it is outside of the cube, it will default to the measurement plan speed.

The only way that I know to change it is to change the speed inside the run screen. That is the movement speed.

The speed knob on the joystick controls both the scanning speed, and the movement speed, so I'm not a fan of relying on that.

The only one I know is to disable "QuickChange" in Extras - Settings - CMM - Movement
It makes the machine change the probe with your Run Speed - otherwise it will go into the rack and grab it at full machine speed - very scary.

I don't know how Calypso handles QuickChange, but as far as I know, probe changes are handled by macros running inside the controller unit. At least this is how it works with our Promax rack. Calypso feeds a number of parameters to the macro (like the storage bay and whether the probe shall be picked up or released) and the macro takes control from the moment when the machine is positioned in front of the rack to the moment when it has moved out again.
If this is true for all racks types and change operations, then there is no (official 😉) way to control the speed inside the rack other than to disable quick change.
