measuring Force

Well it depends on surface and shape. If it is like measuring surface of cylinder, then you can keep calibrating forces, otherwise i would watch behaviour of touch.

I was measuring R3/R4 torus ( just R4 radius ) on forged part, where with 1mm stylus was some arrangement of tip when on VAST XT with 200mN - then i lowered to 100mN and touch was better - no slipping.

The few 0.5mm probes I have come packaged from ITP styli with a WARNING on them recommending that you refer to your probe head manufactures speciation's to determine force limitations.
That said, I always use .100 mN force on anything equal to or less than 1.0mm Ø probes and for what ever reason I get better more repeatable qualifications results.
0.5 breaks very easily.
