[Cl...]
I have been asked to combine two separate programs that each have a different orientation on the CMM and a different Base Alignment. Is this possible with a macro, or do I need PCM?
[Ri...]
I'm doing this with parts all the time. Once your initial base alignment is calculated, You can program the next (I'll call it a base alignment) alignment with ease in the program. Its easier to do with a model, but easily enough with out a model. In my last part I did this, I flip the part on the X axis 180°, then I programmed the new alignment in CNC mode and let it run. (This is with a fully machined part, but I haven't had issues with forgings or castings).
[No...]
Basically yes. But I can only speak for a very specific case I sometimes have. In these rare cases I need to consult my own guide again to understand what I've done 🤣 The main part is to define one of the programs to act as the macro, then in the other program use the "load alignment" feature (or characteristic?) to load the macro program's base alignment as a secondary alignment. From this you can define further alignments or measurements and "emulate" the measurements necessary for the fine alignment of the macro program. The resulting alignment is the base for the macro program's measurements Or something like along that line.....give me some time to re-read my own guide.... 🫣 Update: Done. The above is correct.
