Error: piweb cmm server not started

I'm not entirely sure if this is the solution, but I seem to remember something about changing the PiWeb database files from dfm to dfs.

I would try launching the utility "ConvertPiWebDatabases" from Start Menu --> Zeiss

1. Locate the folder where your PiWeb databases live. It's probably:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZEISS\CALYPSO\workarea\PiWebReportingDatabases\ or
C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZEISS\CALYPSO 6.8\workarea\PiWebReportingDatabases\

Setup a backup folder (and click 'Create backups') if you want a copy of your old DFMs.

2. Press the List DBs button
3. Convert

After you've done this step, close Calypso and re-start it. Open your measurement plan and run the part, or run without clearing existing results. See if PiWeb is able to connect to the new, converted database.

If you'd like to be cautious, only convert the 1 database that is linked to this measurement plan only. If it works, do the rest of them.

I'm not entirely sure if this is going to do the trick but I do know the database file type changed in newer versions of Calypso so that the PiWeb reports can load much faster, I believe.

Laura, I just did the conversion and it's working so far. No popup error and piweb result is there after program is ran. I think this is the fix. Thanks a lot! 😉

ETA: Talked to Zeiss support and they said to download the Zeiss Piweb patch inside the portal.

I seem to be having this same issue.

We updated a all 3 of our CMM's from 2020 to 2021 and we are getting this error on 1 of them.

We use a custom report for all our parts but today we had a customer come in for a quick online measurement and I used a default report. The report did not generate and the same error showed up. I tried to replicate on the other 2 CMM's and this did not occur.

We also updated our PiWeb to 8.0.1.0 other the weekend.

I know its an old post but this fixed the issue for mine...

Navigate to the Calypso 7.0 workarea folder, here:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Zeiss\CALYPSO 7.2\workarea

In that folder you will have a folder called, ““PiWebReportinDatabases”. Re-name that folder “PiWebReportinDatabases_backup” then create a new folder and name it “PiWebReportinDatabases".
