[Ma...]
I have been tasked with replacing our Vast XXT TL1 due to wear (its almost 8 years old from my understanding). Our current unit had barely passed the calibration we had from Zeiss that we received back in November. Now after a very rough crash by an operator, I had trouble with a re-qualification program and I'm also seeing repeatability issues during scanning. With those issues we chose to replace the unit altogether. The replacement arrives tomorrow and I'm looking to have some information on what to expect when I install the new XXT sensor. I've never had to replace this component so any information you can provide would be helpful. I did speak with the technician on what we'd need to do if we chose to get a new sensor and he made it seem like it was as simple as removing the old unit and then placing the new one on. [Cl...]
Last time I replaced one, I think I had to download the device activator from the portal. I believe you run the activator after the installation? Sorry it's been a long time, my memory is fuzzy at best. https://portal.zeiss.com/download-cente ... =device%
[Mi...]
It is very simple. Turn off the machine. Loosen the black plastic ring until the head is free. Pull head straight down, take care to gentle disconnect the electrical connection, don't just rip it out. Install is just the reverse of removal, again be careful with the electrical connector, it only fits one way. That sensor/head is worth thousands of dollars, remember that when you're holding it. Then yes, run device activator. If you're replacing an 8 year old head you're pretty much guaranteed to need to run it. PS... Before you start, make extra sure your replacement head is a TL1, there are different models and not all compatible. We have both TL1 and TL3 machines, it has caused confusion. [Ma...]
Thank you for the information. It sounds easy enough. I'm still pretty green and got promoted into this position with minimal experience after our lead programmer moved on to another company. You fine folks on this forum have been a savior and I really appreciate it.
