Jerry,

Have you ever tried the parallel cylinders feature? I think that would work well.

Thank you Jeff. I look forward to trying that. I've moved to something else right now, but I'll set it up later and let you know how it works in my application.

I've been using Calypso for 16 years and never noticed this feature. Thanks again Jeff, I was able to use the two cylinders as a Datum. I spoke with the engineer about using the top cylinder as Datum C and referencing the bottom cylinder back to C. He was agreeable, so that's how I reported it. I got better numbers using the parallel cylinders but I don't know why. I'll have to study it more before I use it in programs.

I think you should use geometry best fit alignment. Your pattern can constrain five degrees of freedom,but parallel cylinder can only four. Depends upon the placement in the datum reference frame a feature can constrain different degrees of freedom. I think in your case it constrain only rotation.
