[Ja...]
Hello, all! For a while now, when our RDS indexes to a new position, it will occassionly hang or snag, causing a false collision. I've pulled the adapter plate, and inspected the plastic retainer (determined to be the problem before) but don't see anything strange. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I was not able to find a solution, so I'd be interested to hear if you find one. The machine I inherited with this problem did have a lot of miles on it and some noticeable wear from past collisions. [Er...]
This has happened to our machine a few times. I just power everything down, unplug the power, wait 15 minutes, and get out the 99% isopropyl now. I take the RDS off of the column. I douse the 12 pins on the column and carefully take a microfiber cloth and wipe it down. I take the XXT off of the RDS. One time I found the XXT was not as tight as it should have been. I examine the RDS and XXT contacts. Carefully wiping/polishing the contacts with cotton swabs soaked in 99%. The plastic retainer in the RDS has white grease on it that hardens after a while. 2mm hex wrench takes off the three screws holding the cover on. I "deburred" the retainer from when it was forced off during a previous crash while I had it open. And once again, 99% isopropyl rinse and scrub.
