Engineering felt that we should be able to check gears...even though we don't manufacture gears. I've had very limited experience working with gears. A new customer has asked that we provide them with a K chart on several oil pump gears. We don't have a R/T.
So, How will I do with the gear pro training???

Hi,

You can still check gears without RT, it will require more stylii constructions probably. If you have no gear experience, take it slow and reach out for help here, read up as much as you can about spur gears to start. Then helical gears, Then splines - then further down the road bevels.

You can still check a K-Chart, however you may need smaller/custom stylus and perhaps check it near the end of the flank vs the middle (typical).

It seems complicated at first but stick with it, it gets easier. Plus us gear guys stick together and have a large network.

Welcome - and good luck.

I'm really late to this party but I've switched a lot of gear inspection over to our Micura with XTR head. I really like it because you don't have to worry about a bad RT alignment screwing with your results.
