[Aa...]
I'm trying to use a Result Element to calculate how much of an undercut is at the bottom of a bore (by subtracting the radius of two cylinders. I'm setting the program up and haven't run it yet. In the formula dialog box I hit "Compute", and what comes up is just " - ". In fact, if I simplify my formula to be just the diameter of one cylinder, it still comes up as " - ". Is that normal? How is that helpful? [Aa...]
Figured it out. It did that because there were no measurement data. Once I ran through it in simulation mode, it came up with the nominal values from the model. I still think this behavior is dumb and unhelpful, but there it is. [Ja...]
If you have not run the program yet and your result element formula uses actual values then it will either throw a garbage value or it would be blank as there are no actual values yet. If you want to check if your formula works, use nominal values instead of actual values and see the results. If the result is what you expected then your formula is correct and you can change it back to use actual values and wait till you run the program to get a valid result.
