[Ja...]
So we have 3 Contura G2 CMMs (2009, 2011, 2017) and we have different travel limits on all 3. The two oldest are within a few thousandths of an inch within each other ( ex. X- is -.104/ -.099 on the two oldest, and -.004 on the newest). Is there a way to adjust the limits on the newer one to match the older ones? We are already losing a lot of measurement area with the different style adapter (larger brown base - see pic), and i want to see what we can do to atleast use the x and y as much as possible. [Da...]
I think it is something that can only be modified by a Zeiss technician, since, if I remember correctly, it involves both hardware (movable mechanical stops) and firmware changes. [No...]
Hard limits -> Move hardware stops. If they are magnetic, the correct distance between magnet and sensor must be ensured. Otherwise it may result in a fluctuating machine zero (happened to us in the past). Better let a Zeiss tech do this. Soft limits -> have to be set in the controller unit. Most likely some parameter. Soft limits can not exceed the hard limits.
