[Ke...]
Because it is supposed to be so simple that instructions are not necessary, I'm obviously having an issue... "The Dongle key - gets plugged into any USB port, so you may run the software" Plugs in dongle and activates Calypso: "No valid License, or Dongle Not Recognised" Opens License Manager Licenses are available Clicks Manages Licenses - > Activate a License Selects :Activate a Dongle License - Dongle "Not Detected" Any ideas, before I hit up the help line? [La...]
Can you see the USB appear/disappear in the Device Manager when plugging it in and unplugging it? Open the Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. When I unplug my dongle, I see the line item CBUSB disappear. Have you tried switching it to a different USB? I know that is the silliest of suggestions, but sometimes that has helped. You may also have IT preventing the CBUSB "installation" from executing. On a new computer that's never used a dongle before, I sometimes see the notification from the taskbar saying it's installing the encryption (i'm guessing) software. Kind of like what you would see when you plug in a new mouse or USB accessory. Just some thoughts to start with, I guess.

Can you see the USB appear/disappear in the Device Manager when plugging it in and unplugging it? -Yup, and it says it's working properly. Have you tried switching it to a different USB? - Indeed You may also have IT preventing the CBUSB "installation" from executing. - I haven't let IT anywhere near it, yet. Thanks for the ideas 🙂
[Wo...]
Have you used this dongle on a regular PC before moving to laptop? If that's the case you can just copy the license file form PC to laptop AppData and it should work without having to do anything. If not, try different USB port or other PC/laptop just to test if the problem is with the dongle or the laptop itself. Just throwing some ideas around. [Me...]
I was under the impression that after installation you connect to zeiss via the internet. A key is generated and then you install that key. This runs in conjunction with the dongle. Or am I missing something?
[Ke...]
Please sign in to view this quote. As Wojciech Malig guessed, I had a PC, before upgrading to a Laptop. The correct dongle to use was actually in the PC case, and had to be removed from the PC, and plugged into the Laptop USB port. Zeiss supplies flash drives (that look just like their dongles), one for Calypso & one for backup files... which I confused for the dongle 🙄

I'm pretty sure that once you've installed the license, you cannot use the same technique on subsequent installations on different computers. You will get a "license already activated" or something like that. You will need to copy the license file like mentioned in Wojciech's post. [Da...]
Hi all. I am a bit confused after all those messages so I will ask again but please reply only if you have done that already. I use a PC at work with the dongle plugged in. I will be also given a laptp to work from home from time time time. What do I need to do to use a Calypso on that laptop from home ? I do not want to unistall from the PC as I would need that one as well. Do I copy a license file and plug in the dongle and that's it ? Will it work normally with the PC when a plug it back ? [No...]
Yes, that's pretty much all you need to do. The license file is in C:\ProgramData\Zeiss\License\ and should have the CMM number in the file name. This file needs to be present in order to recognize the dongle by Calypso. Of course you'll also need all the config data to be present on the laptop, and you need to start Calypso in simulation mode when no CMM is connected (not the sim option, but the simulation checkmark in the CMM settings). I think that should be it 😕
[Th...]
Bare minimum, the dongle and license files are the only things required to run the software. The actual license file name doesn't matter, but it is usually named with the CMM serial, as Norbert says. Of course, as Norbert also says, without the various config values from your Calypso seat at work, you won't have the same setup on your laptop. As for license portability, dongle-bound licenses can be used on multiple machines without issue. Since they're tied to the USB hardware, you can use Calypso on any machine with the matching license file, as long as the dongle is plugged in. [No...]
All I can say is that Zeiss' minimum specs demand an nVidia Quadro card with at least 2 GB and OpenGL. Calypso features no graphics-related settings, since the CAD window is managed by the ACIS CAD core. Zeiss recommends certain presets of the nVidia driver ("Autodesk Motion Builder"), but I don't know if and how these can be translated to Radeon settings.
