[Pe...]
Ciao , I have one question. How is possible create intersection between theoretical sphere and torus on the part. Because I need measure maximum point on the ball. X and Y are value from torus. Can you help me ? Thank you
[Mi...]
Unfortunately Calypso cannot calculate intersections with a torus. It may be possible if you do it as a free form surface in stead, but I'm not sure, or you might have to do the math yourself and use a result element. It would help if you could post a picture. [Pe...]
This is my calculation , but is not working correctly. Radius of torus is 13,94mm.calculation.JPGSnímka.JPG
[Pe...]
getActual("Torus1").x+sqrt(squared(4.7625+ getActual("Torus1").radius2)- squared(getActual("Torus1").radiusD2))
[Da...]
I am confused. Why are you checking a sphere as a torus? Shouldn't you just check the sphere and add the radius to get this distance?

Area is very less, did you constrain the radius?. What is your machine size?, sounds like big job...
[Ch...]
We have a lot of similar dimensions over gage balls to inspect. We use the actual gage ball size, lots of custom size styli. Do you have the option of getting actual gage ball size to self-center in the feature? Also the is the circle-in-contour feature as well, which I have never had much luck with ... I've also seen some creative Calypos tips on over ball dimensions, e.g. measuring one side of contacting area, and offsetting half of the gage ball, same for opposite side, then finding the center/symmetry of these offset points ? If I recall correctly ... good luck !
[Pe...]
It is mathematically possible to calculate the answer you are looking for, but it is impractical because you need to accurately measure your torus, and you simply do not have enough surface area. You would need to measure both radii and location of the torus but I'd estimate from your drawing you only have about 30° of arc to measure at best which is not enough to establish a size or location. And that doesn't even take into account form deviation. The best thing you can do for yourself is get some appropriately sized gage balls and do a physical measurement.
