make a section cut and create a curve or free form (if available) scan, then create a theoretical point recalling the measured points from that scan. It should do a best fit of your irregular but symmetrical object.
What i don't know is if masked points at the start and stop will affect the result, meaning will less data from 1 corner throw off the average position?????

Problem here is "L" - i think that only user formula can do that. Use measuring width and length to obtain bonuses and calculate it.
Of course if it can not be done with rectangle. Then TP with XY tolerance

Curve is not good option to use recall points - better do bestfit for midpoint

I am making the assumption the customer wants the position of the entire "all around" slot, not just at the section view. Does that help clear things up?
