Measuring an ID spline parallel to the X axis.

In all my years using Gear-Pro, I’ve never had to measure an ID spline or gear in the X axis with a side probe, always in the Z axis and it’s not working as I thought it would.
(1) The gear-pro cad model orientation doesn’t match the way it’s positioned to be measured, even after the coordinate system has been obtained from Calypso.
(2) The right probe goes in and then down like it’s trying to measure the ID spline, touches the root but, then goes back up and goes to the (-y) negative side and tries to measure the spline again, only to then error out not finding what it’s looking for.

I'd like to use gear-pro as the DIN 5480 class and tolerance is built in.
As always, I've got a lot of other stuff I'm working on but, if I can keep it on the CMM, I'm going to try and make it work with gear-pro, if it can be done?.
Because of other task associated out of the lab, I haven't reached out to Zeiss yet as I most likely wouldn't be at the CMM when they called back but, If I don't get an answer here, I will when I can.

Owen, I hope my suggestion worked well for you.

To all, what I've had to do in the past is create a Secondary Alignment that flips the space axis. You need to lie to Calypso/GearPro and tell it that the Z axis is going through the space axis of the spline.

As we discussed, I thought that Gear Pro would have something that would make it easier but, at least it can be done.
In case someone should look here for the same issue, I've attached a quick and dirty illustration that roughly shows the method needed. I had trouble getting gear-pro to read the secondary alignment but, shut it down and run it again and it work. 😃 164_7e40623cf40ccaddbcb13cd7d197aaf0.jpg
