[Jo...]
Hello. New to Calypso. What is the best way to copy the probes and probe rack from my CMM (Contura) to my offline planner? I'm sure it's pretty simple, just want to make sure I do it correctly. Thank you.
[To...]
It works much better and easier if you work the other way around. Design the process offline and implement on machine. Ultimately, you will need to create the stylus systems in Stylus System Creator (SSC) to get the CAD representations. What sensor do you have? If it is an VAST-XT or VAST (Active Scanning), XXT Direct or DuraMax, or VAST-XXT/RDS in CAA mode, I don't see a benefit of using any data from the CMM, except for the names (and numbers if unconventional numbering method). You build them in SSC and when you import them, name them using the same names. Hopefully, the stylus systems on the machine used conventional numbering system. If not, you'll need to edit styli numbers in Stylus System Management. If VAST-XXT/RDS, using stylus specifically created at a given A/B angle, this is where it gets a bit complicated. Depending on how many styli/angles are specified, it might be easier to just start from scratch from SSC and then add the angles after you've imported them. If there a lot of styli/angles, you'll need to save the .txt file in the RC List window. This file contains the names, numbers and and A/B angles of the stylus system (repeat for every stylus system). Transfer these files to your offline seat. After you've created the SSC version of the stylus system and imported it, you can go into the RC List window and open the .txt file, create new stylus system and "add to existing" stylus system. This is where is gets a little odd. Since I am not in front of my Calypso, I don't remember the exact steps. You will likely end up with 2 down probes, one of which you will need to delete. Maybe someone can add to this. When I get to my seat of Calypso, I will try to document the steps. As far as the probe rack is concerned, you build it the same way you would do it on the machine. Manually load MasterProbe. (Check radius value of MasterProbe in Stylus System Management. Radius on XXT is often 0.000. Requires 2.5mm). Go into CNC Stylus System Change. Add holders. Define stylus length. Define holder location. Add Stylus Systems.

[Va...]
Hey John, You could also move only the machine tab from the CMM to offline station. This knowledge base article would definitely help a lot: https://portal.zeiss.com/knowledge-base ... &id=443876
