Manual alignment help

Hello everyone,

I want to make an manual alignment to a part according to the requirements from the drawing, but it doesn't work out for me 🤣

So, please see attached files: what is clear on the drawing is datum A, the plane from backside of the part, with which I want to block the Rotation in space. I have also a symmetry line, which pass to that 3 cylinders, highlighted on print screen "symmetry axis of the part"

it is possible to set a manual alignment in which primary datum to be the plane A (Rotation in space) with Z axis perpendicular on A, and the symmetry line(or his projection on A) to be the Y axis? (which to pass through the big cylinder as center of coordinate, and at least through one of the other two cylinders from up and down)

if symmetry line would be perpendicular on datum A I think it would be easy

in photo "alignment done" I manual aligned the part with plane A as primary datum, and Y axis which pass through cylinder and that small plane from bottom of the part. But this alignment does not comply with the axis of symmetry requirement

Thank you

I'm a bit confused from your text.
What is your problem? Definitely not well described symetry line of part ( you take three circles/cylinders - others can take another elements ).

To change axis in base alignment, just switch secondary axis.
Don't forget to get points on 2D line in same direction as programmed, otherwise it will turn your axis.

Why make the Manual alignment so difficult? I make the manual alignments "easy" to pick up then let the machine do the rest, but I have to turn my programs and machines over to operators to run. Your manual alignment is just a pin on the map so your CMM knows where to go.

If you just want "always manual alignment" then use some simple elements for start alignment and in element editor you can select elements for "MAN" ( manual scan ). Then you can have more complex base alignment.
