Hi there,

My company just realised that we have access to the Planner Module but we haven't been using it.

What are the positives and negatives of this module in your experience?

Thank you,

The positives should be quite obvious.

I have a few negatives:
Movements of the CMM are not 100% accurate. Sometimes, usually after a stylus change, it decides to move right through the granite table or the part before going to the first feature, thereby triggering a false collision warning. This happens only at the start of a measurement, but is annoying anyway.

Simulation can only check for overlapping (intersecting) collisions along the programmed paths. That is, if you program a full circle, but your part has a gap somewhere along the way, it doesn't notice but moves on as if it wasn't there. Only protruding obstacles trigger a collision warning. This is caused by the fact that it doesn't simulate things like measuring force. So it can't follow the actual part geometry, but only the theoretical movement and scanning paths.
