Incompatibilities 2018 <-> 2021?

Does anyone happen to have a parallel installation of 2018 together with 2021?
Did you notice any stylus-(database)-related problems in 2018 after 2021 was installed?

I have big time issues in 2018:
- Can no longer make backups because of crashing tool ClearSQL.exe (some files of probe database missing in backup file)
- Can't see my SSC styli anymore in simulation mode. Trying to reimport fails with error message.
- more to come???

Support struggles to even understand my problem.... 🙄

My guess is that it is using the wrong config file.

When there is multiple install I think there is now multiple config files.

When you go to User/Public/Public Documents/Zeiss/ you will see more than one calypso folders which I do believe is the root of the problem. Each of those folder have a config

Thank you for the help, but I spent the last two days analyzing the situation and none of the above is the case.

Each version of Calypso uses its own config folder and an older version will never access the folder of a newer one. Remember, my problems do not occur in 2021, but in 2018!

No, I have not installed 2018 after 2021. Simply installing 2021 parallel to 2018 was enough to cause these issues. It's reproducible on two different computers and on the second one 2021 has not even been started yet!

I am almost sure that the new version of SQL Server (2017), which was installed together with Calypso 2021, is the troublemaker. I just wanted to hear if other users, who may have the same configuration, have issues too. Because Zeiss is telling me that my computer config must "somehow" be the reason. 🙄

I just upgraded one machine from 2018 to 2021 but not a parallel installation. I don't have any advice for you other than to report that I got more angry text and error messages after installing 2021 than any other version of Calypso. Almost all error messages involved something with the stylus database. I was worried it corrupted everything; However, I was able to calm Calypso down after a while. Everything is working fine now.

As support tells me, they made a few fundamental changes in how the stylus database is handled. Maybe that's where your (and my) issues came from.

Unluckily my issues persist, but at least I found a way that might get me through this mess until I'll be ready to go live with Calypso 2021.
