We are running 7.0, customer is running 6.8. They require us to use the same, 6.8, version. Seeing's how they are not our only customer I have installed 6.8 on the same machine as 7.0, I have both versions on my Contura. When I open 6.8 programs, from my customer, with the 6.8 version will 7.0 screw them up and make the programs incompatible with a machine that is running 6.8 only? I wasn't sure if having the latest version will overwrite something in the program making them useless for our customer. I have a feeling that this is going to be a, big, pain in the A$$!!!!!

As long as you don't save the program under the new version it should be ok. I have a couple of programs that are from an older version.

Probably a good idea to write protect the program to where it can not be saved.
Open the inspection plan folder you wish to protect and right-click on the white inspec file, choose properties and then click the “read only” tab. After it has been protected to read only, you cannot save it and the only way modifications can be saved is if you choose the “save as” option and rename it.

If you open a program that was saved on 6.8 using Calypso 7.0 and then save it under 7.0, it will upgrade that program to 7.0.
Once you send it back the customer will not be able to use it on their 6.8 Calypso.

It would be best to "save as" in a folder specifically for 7.0 programs that way you have both versions.
Its possible the customer just sent you a copy of their program so even if you save it with 7.0, they will still be able to use their original version.

I have made all programs for 6.8 read only so 7.0 will not overwrite. Thanks for that tip, Owen.

Sorry I should have made myself clearer. I meant files and folders Calypso needs to run. Ex: Config, dll, Styli files and folders.
Things kinda spider webbed their way through each version.
I had Zeiss log in to see what was going on. Fixed it but was baffled. He had to create a new machine tab under system settings - cmm configuration. He thought it would be too cumbersome to delete and start from the beginning. It would have been a new load probably license issues too.
