[Za...]
Hello all, I'm trying to setup what's going to be an identical stylus system on our new CMM (Both are Conturas, one being a newer model than the previous one). Everything is going fine as far as adding in my styli, but some of the angles on one of my styli keep crashing into the stem of the qualification sphere. It's not crashing hard, but the shank of the stylus is rubbing against the stem leading up to the sphere and eventually it causes a crash. My qualification sphere is setup in the same orientation as this machine and the settings are the same when referencing the sphere with the master probe. Am I missing a setting on the stylus length or something? I feel like this should be simple, but it's been anything but so far. The stylus is longer than usual (125mm), but I've never had an issue on our older machine with it shanking out on the stem. Any thoughts? Thanks, Zach

[Da...]
Try increasing the reference sphere shaft radius. I would check the working machine against the one having issues, and adjust the shaft radius to match.
[To...]
it's also important to make sure reference sphere is mounted at the desired rotation angle fairly accurately.
