Measuring distance between two parallel planes.

Caliper distance is what I'm using. I'm assuming the max to max is the proper way to give out the reading. Although cent to cent falls more to nominal.

To best reflect Rule #1 from Y14.5 regarding features of size--recalling them into a symmetry plane and using the "Distance Symmetry" Characteristic is the best way. From here you can set the evaluation to Outer Tangential which will verify if the size violates the boundary of perfect form at MMC or not. This will work similar to a diameter characteristic using Outer Tangential to evaluate the Circle/Cylinder feature.

If by that you mean position of a width feature then yes. In fact, it is the only way that you can utilize MMC with that type of feature to my knowledge.

In Calypso 7.0.08 there is a characteristic called "Two Point Distance" in "Size-Standard" Menu. You need to create "Symmetry Plane" and use it in characteristic. Then you can choose between Two point distance or envelope condition. Same as "2 point Diameter"
