NEW PROBE QUALIFICATION

Hi all,

For the first time I am setting up an angled stylus on a fixed XXT head. I go through the normal process of the passive calibration for a new stylus and probe in the direction of the stylus as prompted. The CMM is using the top 180° of the calibration sphere which causes the probe to shank out at certain points. Doesn't the CMM recognize the angle of the probe and change the approach vector to the calibration sphere? Adding new probes on our Contura with an articulating head has always been fairly easy so I wonder if I'm missing something here using the Duramax. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try probing further off the center of the sphere, 30 to 40 degrees. You may not have been far enough off for it to recognize that it is an angled probe. When the angled probe is recognized, It should stop and ask you for the angles, then enter 0 and 22.5 in the appropriate places.

That did the trick. I was not familiar with that screen as all of my other probe configurations are on axis. I entered the angle as suggested and it worked perfect. Thanks everyone for your help!

Just saying - Thank you 🙂 I had to try to assembly angled stylus, but i struggled with calibration. For first touch in direct of probing i did in Z and Y - after 3 touches this dialog box appeared. Worked for VAST XT with dynamic tensor.

Thanks a lot.
