Reporting TP of symmetry plane with LMC

I have a question about what my report is reporting to me. This might be a PiWeb thing though since I hadn't turned on the custom report yet.

I have a true position on a symmetry plane with LMC.

The characteristic gives two lines of outputs, Position and Position.(L)

What is the .(L) telling me? If turn off LMC or switch to custom report I get only just the first position result. Since I always use the custom report, I've never seen this before.

(L) seems like it would mean LMC, but I dont know Piweb, so i dont know if that's your bonus or the bonus + base tolerance.
You can check this to be sure.
You must have set some tolerances for your symmetry plane, and assuming that its a Gap or channel the Least condition (or less material condition) would be when the gap was at its largest, so high limit of the symmetry distance minus actual would be your bonus.
If your symmetry plane is of 2 outside surfaces then Least material bonus would be the actual minus the low limit of your symmetry plane distance.

If you have PCM you can add this formula to your report, i do this for many of my TP bonuses for clarity and to avoid the same questions being asked every time these jobs come up.

"Base Tolerance 0.0040" + cr() + "Dat A LMC Bonus " + formatL(((getNominal("ID Sphere").diameter)+0.008)- getActual("ID Sphere").diameter)

L is the percentage of tolerance at LMC,it is for documentation purpose. You should use that value in reports, such as inspection reports, process capabilities, gauge R and R.

Is it possible add LMC for symmetric plan?

You might be right Shabu, I was thinking of symmetry POINT, which has a distance and would be considered a feature of size, but a symmetry PLANE does not have a distance.

So in order to get Bonus from a modifier, you must find the distance by intersecting the planes with something else, and get a point to point distance thru constructed points.

Its never easy is it..........

You can achieve LMC for the feature only, by measuring two planes and use recall feature points into Symmetry Plane as shown below in the capture. Make sure to uncheck Re-calculate Nominal Geometry at the bottom before selecting the two planes you want to recall and then check the box again after shift or control selecting your two planes. Calypso will not allow MMB or LMB with this method though.

Make sure to correct your Nominals in the Symmetry Plane Feature.

I believe the .L or .M on Pi Web is a percentage of the total tolerance used with MMC or LMC bonus. I believe it was added for statistical purposes.

I do not use PiWeb much either.

You can do MMC/LMC of a symmetry plane, however Calypso does not do LMB/MMB or boundary conditions, that I am aware yet.

Good luck!
