Can anyone suggest a method for picking up the tooth and aligning it in Calypso?
We are new to Gear Pro and are getting an alarm during the start of the alignment in Gear Pro.
Zeiss sent us this but still not working.2982_1e323e3c22d1c67ce54ea1c37480335e.jpg

Hello, I have not taken any measurements with gear proda cad data. I use a plane and a cylinder at the start of the alignment. I leave the planar rotation section empty. (Going to be + X). I set the gears between the 2 teeth to the center, so that the gear can find the teeth healthier. In this way, I ensure that the probe finds exactly the bottom of the tooth as it moves in the x direction.

Hi,

Sure I can help. Most of our parts are gears and have a tooth or space aligned.

I have the same handout from Zeiss - it works.

Make sure you have correct rotation pattern settings on the point (2). Make sure point is self-centering (I usually just select : In normal direction vs. clamping Z), and also choose mid-point for the point evaluation.

A tip here is : Once the program start, you may want to put a stop /intermediate point, to allow the operator to physically rotate the part so the tooth or gap is directly directly in line with the stylus, etc. This method should work without it, but works better is part is aligned to machine axis, etc.

Choose minimum feature - select both points, and in the example shown, the point that went into the gap is deepest and smallest value in X axis.

Make a secondary alignment and choose this minimum feature for planar / rotational alignment (to X in this example).

Lining up a tooth or gap is only needed if : it is a datum on drawing, or it has a clocking/position tolerance to another feature; OR you need to measure major/minor or flanks of gear WITHOUT Gear Pro.

If you only need to measure gear data, you do not need to line up tooth - unless you want to start on same space or tooth every time.

Good luck. If you can share program and intent: I can help
