TP20 issues?

Calypso v6.4.14
Spectrum
RDS (Not CAA)
MCR20 probe rack

Not sure if I have an issue with our TP20 sensors, bottom half that is removable.
It seems now and then I can perform a tool change and the stylus will not accept data when probing, it just presses on a feature until it errors out (Red Lights).

I can remove the bottom half and put it right back on and then it works.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make sure the "Crash Pins" are not pushed in or out, they should be flush with the surface.
If they are Out, its real easy to reset them by pushing the bottom of the probe against anything flat, i like to use a 1,2,3 block.
If they are In, then thats much more difficult, you have to screw a long probe or extension into the probe, something you can get a good hold of and "Mush" the probe guts around, until you are able to feel the pin inside the module and push it out. then of course you'll push them out too far so you have to push them back in again so they are flush.

Lastly, they make some special blue tack for cleaning the contact points of the TP20's, but i like to occasionally just pull the module off and inspect it and give it a couple rubs back & forth on the granite surface. Whatever the surface texture is of the polished granite, it gives just enough grit to give a slight shine to the contact points of the modules.

If you do anything to the module, you need to recalibrate.

This is not a single module, it's any and or all modules.
It is random, I have not seen any pattern other than it happens most of the time after a probe change from the MCR20 rack.

The entire CMM and tooling is about three years old and has sat idle for those three years.

Which means everything is new.

We have had them fail the same way. After time, they actually do wear out and have to be replaced. There have been a couple of times, where the module was still within the 1 year warranty and they were replaced at no cost.

This is a new cmm, new TP20 (all related parts), new RDS (not CAA).
It's all new.

I have two pallets with 64 parts on each pallet. This happens far too often for all this new equipment.

Are there any TP20 parameters that can be looked at?

We had a similar problem with our TP20, When the probes sit idle for awhile they tend to hang up. We just gently wiggle them around in circles for a few seconds and they start working. It is still happening from time to time.

I think they are 2 TP20 and you might need to use the non inhibited one I have seen issue with it on new Spectrums especially if the fixture has magnets. I think the different TP20 fixed the issue I may have to double check which TP20 the had to switch too.
