How to measure thsi dimension

Hi guys,

i have to measure the depth of a stamped surface located on a big radi (R220)
As you can imagine the stamped surface doesnt really look like the model, so i cant just use a line and a circle and get an intersection. 3925_5921127a12b46876a5bf52bd2216d7e7.jpg
My goal was to scan the stamped area like this, turn it 45° degrees, get the max point, turn it back and get the distance to the flat part. 3925_7266d0f62e21172cdbfeec82bfe5d9e5.jpg
I've tried a lot, but i can't get it to work.
Does anybody of you guys have an idea how i can obtain the right value with little as possible error?

This is such a poorly designed dimension. If it was at low limit, I'm pretty sure it would not exist on the shallow side of the spot face.
A dimension back to part of the DRF would be more appropriate. Since you have a model, you could use space points to determine deviation on the face and around the hole. Then with a bit of math , determine the depth that way ?

I would take a plane on the spot face.
Then create a Step Point at the corner. A small plane on the R220 and a line over the edge of the R220 should do it. Change the Step Point settings until it matches a secondary measurement method.
