Offline Seat vs License Activation ID (Entitlement ID?)

Hey,

Could someone provide some additional information to help me discern between the activation IDs listed on my Entitlement ID paperwork vs what is pre-installed on the CMM which came from the factory (w/ license dongle).

This is my 1st time running through a full setup of a new machine so I am hesitant to think that the Entitlement IDs are basically an offline seat activation.

I currently was trying to install Calypso and the other software on my desktop PC but was immediately shown the error that "No valid basic license Found". Looking within the Zeiss License Activation software it shows no active licenses. On the Duramax's provided PC where Calypso was already installed from the factory; the Zeiss License Activation software has licenses already in there and shown as permanent.

Is the entitlement IDs just a hardcopy of the licenses that are already on the license dongle?

Thanks!

The entitlement IDs are just what the name says: The entitle you to use (activate) a license, but they are not the license itself.

Licenses on a new CMM come pre-activated, but you still receive the entitlement IDs. Think of it a as a proof that you are the rightful owner of the licenses.
