Open new version with older version

I thought in the past I could open a newer versioned program with an older version with a few file edits, change the version number.

This doesnt seem to work with the latest version of Calypso.
I need to check an alignment issue in a v7.0 and I have v6.4, the program does use FF and or Curve, but I dont need that.
Any info on this would be appreciated.

I cant say for certain for 7.0 but, I've done a fair amount of backwards compatible stuff from 6.8 opened in 5.6

The trick I found is that I just had to remove any characteristics and feature strategies that didn't exist in 5.6.

For example, I wasn't allowed caliper distance, the "slot" strategy in slot feature, and I think a spiral scanning path on a sphere are a few that come to mind. But once they were changed I could open the newer stuff, although it would delete my cad model for some reason (which isn't too hard to re-import).

Might be similar issue?

Open up the new version program folder, navigate the files until you see "version". Open that in a text document and change the contents of the text document to meet the current version of Calypso that you have or wanting to open it in.

Once the contents of the "version" text document have been changed to meet the current version of Calypso you have - you should now be able to open that program without issue. And although I have never had an issue or problem doing this, I have not tried it with v6.4 specifically, I have tried it with v6.6.
