Profile tolerance has MMC on the Datums

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't fine anything searching the forum.
I have a rectangular part. Datum A is the flat surface on top of the part. Datum B is a symmetry plane of the 2 sides of the exterior
and Datum C is a symmetry plane created by the other 2 exterior planes. There is an interior cut out with a profile tolerance that has MMC to Datum B and Datum C
Please see attachment.

Thanks for any help.

Profile of a Line will allow you to use MMB on the Datums.

With the Datums that you described though I doubt Calypso will allow you to use MMB.

I have not been able to apply a modifier to a datum, only the feature. Good luck and if anyone knows how to apply MMC to the datums, please share.

I can imagine a theoretical way to do this, but I've never tried it myself.

You would need to have size references on your datum symmetry, i.e. a Symmetry Plane to get the actual widths

Then you'll need two sets of profiles, one to PROF|.004|A|B and one to PROF|.004|A|C (if it needs a tertiary datum then use the feature itself?)

In the tolerance for each you can set it as formula to add the MMC bonus which would account for the shift:

.004 + (<Distance_SymmetryB_MAXSIZE> - getActual("Distance_SymmetryB").actual)

.004 + (<Distance_SymmetryC_MAXSIZE> - getActual("Distance_SymmetryC").actual)

That's the only way I can imagine it might work, because you are trying to manage bonus shift in two directions at once but you can't apply the bonus from C onto the bonus from B and visa versa.

A material modifier on the Datum is not bonus tolerance like a material modifier being on a Feature. It allows for Datum Shift.
