Active or Passive Head

Is there a way to tell what type of head you have other than the tribal knowledge of Vast or XXT? I've heard that some of the older machines gave a choice of active & passive but I need to know because my new employer has SOOOO many different machines...

New machines also have choice of active and passive head, l have seen a youtube video about this..

Here are 2 common sensors. Easy way to identify. If it is big, then it's probably an active sensor. If it is long and slender, it's probably passive.

Also, here's a link to the Zeiss website that shows the various sensors. If your machines are really old, you might not see them here.
