Piweb to excel, with customized location filename info

So I know I did this before using piweb,

Generally I click piweb, click the 3 dots under output media for CNC run, and then name the location for the program individually, and export as an excel file. My question is, is there anyway that I can have piweb use an existing folder, or create one if there is not one.

i.e.

X:\xxx\xxx\xxx\part number\results\order number.xls

That way when I program, I can set the part number and it will automatically input it where needed to put the file. Also how do I "turn on" piweb to output this form as well. It has been a few years since I have had to do this.

Never say "it's not possible"....lol that's like shining the bat light in the sky, calling for BATMAN... Except you're summoning Laura J, otherwise known as "PIWEB WONDER WOMAN"..... 🤣 🤣 🤣

OMG Tom 🤣 ..... Lol! You caught me lurking.

I have to admit, I have no idea which 3 dots you're referring to with "Output media for CNC run". However, to my knowledge there is no way to automatically generate the Excel export filename through PiWeb.

It's possible to define the naming convention using variables in the PiWeb action "Save all Pages as PDF" but the option isn't available under the Action screen to define the Excel export filename.

Thanks, that makes sense. To the OP, that is a function of Calypso, not PiWeb. Perhaps you'd have better traction in the Calypso forum. There are some talented people who have written PCM functions to do such tasks, but I am not one of those talented people.

Thank you everyone for the response. Apparently I dreamt I have done it before because without PCM you can't export to excel via PiWeb/Calypso. I did however find out how to do with as a PDF which is totally not useful. 🤣 Either way, thanks for the heads up!

Do a search on Batch files, Jason Barry I think posted a way to copy and name files with it . It was selected in Multiple report mode.

Do you need the Excel export after every run? You can make a PiWeb report that queries the measurement data you're looking to export to Excel (ie. all of the parts that were ran under Lot #1234, or all of the parts that were ran between last Tuesday and today) and then do a bulk export.

Just wondering if that would satisfy the end goal all the same.

We measure 2000-3000 pieces per month from a piece. I am asked to make monthly process analysis by sending each measurement in excel. Piweb is unfortunately limited to 1000 measurements. (I haven't convinced the bosses to switch to SBS yet) I use a macro combining Excel files, but excel can pull file names mixed. Therefore, if I can change the file name while saving excel, I will avoid confusion. If I could add the date and time before the incremental track number, I would have solved my problem.

I struggled with macros in the characteristic excel file, but I could not change the file name.

PCM unfortunately does not exist 2500_a3e7fa6df76f55976eabad0cc5dae4eb.png
