Cylindrical probe scanning error

When scanning a ring gauge using sphere Ruby, I got two micron form error. Same ring gauge I scanned using cylinder probe I got twenty micron error. Is there is any option to correct this cylinder probe error?.In my new job , cylinder probe became my bread and butter. So I want to control it.

You will have better results scanning a sphere with a cylindrical stylus than trying to use a ring gage. Any tilt in the axis of the ring gage relative to the cylinder stylus will show up as roundness error. Cylinder styli are best suited for measuring very thin or sharp edges that may be difficult to follow exactly with a spherical stylus.

If you do a CAD Evaluation and compare the two probes the cylindrical scan will probably look like an ellipse. As it scans it will transition from... just say the top of the cylinder probe to side to the bottom and back. It won't be exactly that, but that's the idea.

That everything is that square actually surprises me.

Hi CMM Group.
Do you know if the VAST XXT is compatible with cylindrical probes.
I did not find way to calibrate it in Contura G2 with XXT.

Not only the stylus has to be square.. the part must be perfectly square and no taper in bore as well.

Cylindrical probes are not supported by Zeiss for XXT sensors. However, there are cylindrical probes with a full radius on the end so they can be qualified like a standard spherical radius stylus. But, it is not supported for a reason. Proceed with caution.
