[Ow...]
This error has been discussed here in the past within other topics but, search doesn’t have any conclusive solutions so, I’m bringing it up with the specified title. This has happened a few times on first startup (after shutting down everything and restarting) and after that if I just select to manually load the probe and tell it which probe it has, the error isn't visible anymore and everything runs fine afterwards. The Duramax CMM this is happening on is running Calypso version 6.2.28. ID chip recognition has not been turned on, it has never been activated on this CMM. Some of the probe plates are not Zeiss made, ITP made, and I suspect that’s part of the issue but, I’ve never had any other problems since changing to the ITP plates (two+ years ago) and it’s now doing it on Zeiss made plates? Any ideas or information on this error is appreciated.
[Ow...]
Ok, look's like the CMM has lost it's mind and I'm going to call support. It's now giving me a "stylus system change -false pickup position" error every time it goes to change a probe. I've reset the probe holder wrack position with the master probe to no avail. More to come 😐
[Da...]
Have you tried cleaning the plates and the head?

[Me...]
Sounds like you'll need to download and run the "Device Activator" application in order to update the plate ID stored in the controller. I'd be curious to hear if that also fixes the iTP plates.... My guess is that it won't, but let's hope 😃
[Ow...]
The CMM is offline so, downloading the device activator isn’t possible, directly anyhow. I never did call the hotline. Along with removing the head twice, cleaning the plates and between many other unexpected Monday task, I shut everything down (twice) and tightened up the alum bar that holds the probe bays (they were a bit loose for some reason) and the probe bays themselves and reset the positions. Crossing my finger but, everything was running good when I left. Can I download the device activation manager on to a thumb-drive and then load it onto the computer (?) or is an internet only type of activation? [La...]
Please sign in to view this quote. It's simply resolved by downloading the Device Activator. Yes, you can download it and put it on a thumb drive. There is a notice on most new adapter plates or components that says on a red sticker that you have to run the Device Activator. I don't mean that to be snarky - most people just don't even realize or they assume it's a red warning for being delicate parts inside. Old firmware won't recognize new part numbers, so, at some point the controller needs to be updated with a new list. That is the basic explanation.
