MMC/LMC

Extras - Settings - Measurement - MMC/LMC tab. There are two options;

1] As a mechanical gauge
2] Restriction to dimensional tolerance

What's the difference between the two?

I'm assuming that the second choice will not allow bonus if over or under max?

In some applications, a gage is made to check the position. However, a gage cannot determine if the holes being checked are oversize or not. The hole sizes are checked with gage pins. So, if you want the cmm to correlate with the methodology used at the machine, you would use "check as mechanical gage".

If you want to have the cmm report position per the standard, then you would not allow additional tolerance and use "restrict to dimensional tolerance"

Restrict to Dimensional Tolerance - will still apply the bonus but only the max allowed by the tolerance
Inside Diameter of 0.100 ± .005 with a position of Ø 0.005 MMC

If the actual diameter is 0.106 the max bonus of the position will be 0.015, if As Mechanical Gage was selected it would be 0.016
