Flatness using Grid

Hi all,
I am new to calypso, I am trying to measure the flatness using a grid on a specimen but I found the following problems:
1. Since the specimen has an irregular shape, some of the points of the grid are located outside the perimeter of the specimen and thus the stylus stop scanning once it reaches any of these points. How can I specify the perimeter of the specimen? Is having a CAD drawing is the only way to include the grid lines withing the perimeter of the specimen (I don`t have the curve option in the software)?
2. I want to get the actual points of the measurements, how I can do that?

Hint: see the attached pdf

I assume you're not using a model?? If you create the plane from a model, the grid should avoid those areas. Tip: increase the number in the grid width or grid length to fill in areas that appear to not have enough scan lines.
