Base alignment offset

I am trying to offset my base alignment 0.005" in 'Z' from my actual probed 'Z' plane in order to account for my other measurements including curve being offset 0.005".

I have tried adding the offset in my base alignment under 'special', but am getting no change in my results. Is there something else that I should be doing?

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, changing the nominal value of the plane could work as well. An example of this would be if your plane had stock on it for machining. You could change the nominal from zero to a positive number to account for stock. If you are reporting profile or position, the nominals are tied to model features, relative to each other, so alignment wouldn't "correct" that.

FYI , you can pre assign an alignment to new features, or use the paintbrush tool afterwards when utilizing Clarke's suggestion.

Yes, so my datum plane had 0.005" removed from it by mistake. However I have many other existing features which were referenced from that datum. So now it is showing that those features measure +0.005". I was hoping to offset the plane so that I know if the other features are good with respect to the ghost datum now.
