[Ri...]
I started a new position and I'm in the midst of selecting a new/used CMM for a new incoming inspection department at an organization that has not had one previously. They are establishing a new supply chain for a new product line and need to be able to ensure conformance on some tightly toleranced incoming components. The powers that be had already selected an area before I was hired against an exterior wall of thin walled warehouse, adjacent to a double bay loading dock with several large windows in with which to put the inspection area, and with it the CMM. This is clearly not a suitable location. When I purchased my last CMM at my least job, Zeiss provided a document that listed the environmental requirements/considerations to be adhered to in order to ensure that the CMM would be able to operate accurately and effectively. it covered everything from temperature to the requirements for the compressed air. Does anyone have a copy of this or something/anything similar that I could provide to my handlers to emphasize the need for a temperature/humidity controlled area? Any information/ammunition you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Rich

[Je...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Richard, Here are the official Zeiss Contura G2 Installation Instructions. This document contains a list of required environmental conditions. You have legitimate concerns. The site you described sounds like a nightmare for controlling tight-toleranced parts. I truly hope your superiors are willing to work with you on this. Jeff Frodermann Windings, Inc. New Ulm, MN
